Boarding in Fort Lauderdale was easy, and I was shocked when I was told that I could drop off my carry-on luggage in my cabin until they were ready.

Equinox staterooms are in different categories including the new cabin types (signature ConciergeClass & AquaClass). Deck layouts show a convenient configuration of public spaces (entertainment venues located forward, restaurants - aft), 10 amazing places for dining out, spacious cabins (Inside rooms are sized from 185 ft2 / 17 m2). I peeked in on my bright ocean view cabin, which was compact but well-designed. I immediately decided this would be a great place to hang my hat for the next 10 days.

We were skeptical about the Silent Disco -- a dance party where participants wear headphones and dance to one of three stations -- but it is probably the most fun you can have on a cruise ship. Cast away your doubts that it will be forced and awkward; turnout is high and you'll see young and old grooving on the dance floor of Quasar nightclub. Take your headphones off for a moment and hear the impassioned and ever-so-slightly out-of-tune sing-alongs to "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" or suddenly see arms overhead motioning out YMCA. The event is typically timed well to coincide with the end of the second theater show and as the crowd spills out into the atrium, passersby can't help but don a pair of glowing headphones.
Activities and entertainment
Sushi, sashimi and nigiri are available for takeout during lunch and dinner hours from casual Asian restaurant Sushi on Five. Order it for delivery to your stateroom, or pick it up on your way to the Lawn Club on Deck 15 (call extension 51 to order). Grab some towels from the pool, some free dessert from the Oceanview Cafe and that bottle of wine you have hanging around your cabin and create your own perfect picnic on the grass lawn that covers the top deck of the ship.
The cruise vessel gives a large variety of stateroom categories, plus Celebrity Cruises signature Concierge Class and the new AquaClass. There are new things, such as glass-blowing demonstrations and The Lawn Club, a live grass lawn between the ship's funnels on the upper deck. Celebrity Cruises Equinox is from the Solstice-class liners, with sisterships Eclipse, Reflection, Silhouette, Solstice.

Decks and Cabins
The Retreat includes stunning accommodations, a private restaurant, and exclusive lounge and sundeck that rival any high-end resort. Your dedicated team of attendants, concierges, and butlers will do everything to ensure you never have to lift a finger on vacation. There's also an exclusive pre-departure lounge onboard with free coffee and juices for passengers staying in Concierge Class or above cabins.
Standard bathrooms are well laid out, with a glass shower door, tiled floors and plenty of shelving, as well as a couple of small drawers and cabinets for storage. The free bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, soap bar and lotion) are Gilchrist and Soames. Cool down with a drink just a few steps away, at the Sunset Bar at the aft of the ship. The Sin City burlesque show and late-night comedy on Deck 4 is another option. For typical cruise entertainment fare, enjoy the twice-nightly acts in Equinox Theatre, that are performed shortly after dinner seatings. In addition to the produced onboard shows, well-respected headlining acts include guest singers and musicians, magicians and theatrical productions. Launched in 2009, the Solstice-class Celebrity Equinox cruise ship has, for the most part, managed to stay fresh and modern. It received additional suites; Michael's Club was transformed into the Retreat Lounge, exclusively for the use of suite passengers; and the ship's Oceanview Cafe buffet restaurant was redesigned in an open, marketplace style.
While the crew finished preparing my cabin, I headed up to the top decks to explore the ship. I was also eager to try out my complimentary drink package, which allowed me any drink up to $10. The two fee-free venues on offer are The Silhouette Restaurant - Main Dining Room, and the Oceanview Cafe lido deck buffet. There is a second dining room, The Blu, exclusively for use by suite and AquaClass passengers. Added-fee specialty options open to all paying guests on Equinox include the Italian/American Tuscan Grille, the continental Murano Restaurant, and the pan-Asian Silk Harvest. More informal restaurants include the Cafe al Bacio, Bistro on Five, Gelateria, Mast Grill, and AquaSpa Cafe.
We had a total of 4 sea days, which proved to be quite relaxing. Agency's fares were per stateroom and ranged from USD 1650 (EUR 1360) for Inside cabins to USD 3050 (EUR 2520) for Sky Suites. Prices were inclusive of Gov taxes, port fees, gratuities, premium beverage package, unlimited Wi-Fi, USD 150 (shore excursion credit). At night, you might have the opportunity to stargaze at the night sky with an enrichment guide, or you can check out the constellation lights twinkling above the bar in the Sky Observation Lounge. You can slow dance with your loved one to a live band before dinner, but you can also get down to your own beat with giant headphones during the silent disco. We found you could easily get these prime seats by showing up about a half-hour to 20 minutes before showtime.
